Kathryn Ellen Seville (Caddell) Payton, 50, of Murray died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, in Waterloo, Neb..

She was born Jan. 23, 1958, in Omaha to Frances Eugene Lincoln and Gladys Arlene (Swanger) Stevens.

Kathy was born in Omaha and raised and schooled in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was a stay-at-home mom until the children were raised, then she went back to college at Bellevue University and received a degree in sociology and a masters in psychology. Kathy worked for the state of Iowa briefly and lived in Plattsmouth from 1979 until 1994, when she moved to rural Murray with Stan Kahler.

Survivors include her best friend and longtime lover, Stanley Kahler, Murray, Neb.; son and daughter-in-law, Mathew and Beth Steadman, Bellevue, Neb.; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie Hamling, Omaha, Neb.; Toni Payton, Omaha; Stacey and Sean Pridemore, Germany; Kristine and Scott Grant, Fort Mitchell, Ala.; Rose French, Mosspoint, Miss.; stepdaughter, Angie and husband William Johnson, Omaha; stepson, Michael Kahler, Murray; 18 grandchildren; brothers, Wayne Caddell, Waterloo; Jeffery and wife Sue Caddell, Buffalo, Mo.; sisters, Elaine and husband Ralph Steiner, Omaha; Jenny Schroeder, Tipton, Iowa; Lori Trammell, Spring Lake, N.C.; Gail Kephart, Verdon; Joan Darnell, Cameron, N.C.; mother, Gladys Stevens, Verdon; and many nieces, nephews, good friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Francis E. Lincoln; brother, John Caddell; stepfather, Gerald Stevens; and grandparents, Henry and Katie Swanger, and brother-in-law Terry Trammell.
